He’s currently top four in blocks this season behind Defensive Player of the Year candidates Jaren Jackson Jr., Brook Lopez, and Nic Claxton. In the last two weeks, Kessler averaged 11.8 points and 11.4 rebounds complemented by 3 blocks per game. Despite only playing 22.7 minutes per game, the rookie center looks like the biggest steal of the trade. Walker Kessler, Center, Utah Jazz: 83 OVR (+3)Īfter being traded to the Utah Jazz from the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of the Rudy Gobert blockbuster last year, Kessler’s rookie season in Salt Lake City has been extremely promising. His output and efficiency have been a primary catalyst for the Bulls’ recent three-game winning streak. In his last five games, DeRozan averaged 31.6 points per game and made at least 10 field goals in four consecutive contests. The 33-year-old mid-range specialist has been one of the most clutch players in the league, averaging 4.3 points per game and 47.4% from the field in clutch situations. It’s been an up-and-down year for the Bulls as the team’s dealt with myriad injuries-including DeRozan’s untimely hamstring ailment prior to the All-Star game-but their star forward’s return to the lineup has the team surging at the right time. DeMar DeRozan, Forward, Chicago Bulls: 88 OVR (+1) Let’s review how the trio are influencing their respective teams and their NBA 2K23 rating. Without their contributions in some pivotal matchups, the Chicago Bulls, Utah Jazz, and Los Angeles Lakers respectively would be mere play-in game hopefuls. Over the last two weeks, DeMar DeRozan, Walker Kessler, and Austin Reaves have stood out with impactful performances that have kept their team’s postseason hopes alive. The NBA Regular Season is coming down to the wire with roughly 10 games remaining-both the Eastern and Western Conferences could experience some major shifts in the standings before the Playoffs, especially between the 6 and 10 seeds. If the Pelicans somehow manage to earn the 8 seed, they’ll be a first-round challenge for the Denver Nuggets. Over the past two weeks, Ingram’s posted highs of 42 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 assists, plus a pair of triple-doubles. Without their one-two punch of Ingram and Zion Williamson, the Pelicans have struggled to keep pace with the rest of the league, but Ingram’s return just before the All-Star break injected new life into the squad. Pelicans fans rejoiced as the team started this season with one of the best records in the league by season’s end, injuries caused them to slide from first in the Western Conference all the way to ninth. Brandon Ingram, Forward, New Orleans Pelicans: 87 OVR (+1) Pundits around the league aren’t talking about the Cavs enough as a title contender Mitchell, Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen are plenty of offensive and defensive firepower to make some noise. Mitchell’s always been a bucket, but this season he’s stepped it up, averaging a career high in points with 28.3. The star guard sat out the final two games of the regular season-earning some much needed rest-after he dropped 40 or more points in four straight games. The Cavs have been a force in the Eastern Conference all year, but they’re getting hot at the right time, especially Mitchell. Donovan Mitchell, Guard, Cleveland Cavaliers: 92 OVR (+1) These standout games should give Tatum and the Celtics confidence to start the first round. As the regular season came to a close, the 25-year-old registered 38 points versus the Philadelphia 76ers and 40 points against the Milwaukee Bucks-both considered title favorites in the Eastern Conference. Tatum can score from just about anywhere on the court, but his game is predicated on his jump shot, which makes his field goal percentage even more impressive. 3 overall pick is averaging 46% from the field, but in the last two weeks he’s been highly efficient with a 56% field goal percentage. Jayson Tatum, Forward, Boston Celtics: 95 OVR (+1)Īs the undisputed primary scorer on the Celtics-with respect to Jaylen Brown-Tatum always has the green light to shoot when the ball is in his hands. The suspense has been building to this point let’s discuss how it happened. While Ingram and the Pels are fighting for a coveted spot in the postseason, Celtics forward Jayson Tatum and Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell have positioned their teams toward the top of the standings. The New Orleans Pelicans are in do-or-die mode, sitting on the cusp of elimination if they hope to win two-straight games and secure a spot in the first round, they’ll need forward Brandon Ingram to deliver back-to-back big performances. The stage is set-the NBA Playoffs are here! As it stands currently, seeds 1 through 6 are locked in, with this week’s play-in games set to decide seeds 7 and 8. The Grotesque and grotesqueness The formulation of the grotesque is one of the oldest means of figurative thinking, having gone through a dynamic and complex development over the millennia the archaic grotesque was, first of all, a result of the primary activity of consciousness reflecting on and trying to explain the reality of the world. The aim of this paper is then to identify the meaning of those monsters and other literary characters in Tolkien´s novels The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings which can be easily recognized by their grotesqueness of various types and degrees. Tolkien believed that because these " fantastic elements " lead readers under the surface of the plot, directly to the truth of the past, they must be respected as very essential parts of the works. Myths may be misguided, but they steer however shakily toward the true harbor, whereas materialistic "progress" leads only to the abyss and the power of evil.´ We will begin our discussion of the role of the grotesque in Tolkien´s work by drawing attention to his lecture on Beowulf in which he identified the importance of monsters for an appropriate understanding of the literary value as well as ethical meaning of the myth, claiming that monsters, as distinguishing characters of Beowulf and other ancient myths, are " essential, fundamentally allied to the underlying ideas of the problem, which give it its lofty tone and high seriousness " (Tolkien 1936, 7). We have come from God, Tolkien argued, and inevitably the myths woven by us, though they contain error, reflect a splintered fragment of the true light, the eternal truth that is with God. Far from being lies they were the best way-sometimes the only way-of conveying truths that would otherwise remain inexpressible. Lewis: ´Myths´, Lewis told Tolkien, werélies and therefore worthless, even though breathed through silver.´ ´No´Tolkien replied. Tolkien: Truth and Myth, " Joseph Pearce (2001) records the following fragment of discussion between Tolkien and C. In opposition to numerous critics, Tolkien himself considered myths to be more realistic and " true " than any other realistic literature. Tolkien´s fixed interest in and inspiration from myths of various origins (mostly Norse and Welsh myths, Icelandic sagas, and Finnish mythical epic poems) have been widely discussed facts. The court literally sues the property in order to keep it. Sounds like you dont know how it typically works. All it takes is a cheap $13 raking set from china, watching youtube videos and very little practice. Not as easy as a one sided wafer lock like you would find on file cabinets, hitch locks and the like, but still easy. Hardly any skill required to rake them open.Įven our own jeep's door locks can be raked open pretty easily. And it is not really that difficult to "pick" wafer locks at all. I already said earlier that most thieves dont bother picking locks. They are out there to help no matter how many people think they aren't. I am sorry but this is dumb to judge the police for the actions of a few of them. We weren't there we are only told what the media tells us. Well they probably broke the law, they were probably trying to fight the police, they were probably trying to run. In most cases the police are made out to be the bad guys and the person who they arrested is the victim. What would you do in the same situation?Īlso the media is a lying snake and they tell you what they want you to hear not what really happened. You would want to go home, you would want to see your family, so I ask. But I say put yourself in the exact situation. Yes you hear the stories of police brutality and in SOME cases they may have taken it a little too far. I would bet my last dollar that MOST cops today and I would even say 99% of total cops are good. In today society more people see cops as the enemy rather then as someone whose there to help. Seriously, once you start looking into police culture/protectionism, asset forfeiture and how everything works. They are in the country illegally, just had all their money taken and cant afford to fight to get it back. Perfect victims are illegal aliens who carry their earned money with them to various states where they find work. People who can't (or wont) try to get their money back with costly lawyers and lawsuit are often targeted by police. And the town's insurance companies pay the lawsuit settlements. Police are rarely ever prosecuted or sued for their abuses because they have "qualified immunity". Police unions are incredibly powerful and protect their dues-payers. Or they preemptively quit so they dont have to cooperate with IA. SOmetimes even then all they get is a paid suspension. Police rarely face any real repercussions for abuses unless it is incredibly inflammatory, there is overwhelming evidence and makes the news. It is something that has become rife with abuse. They hand the case over to them, the federal government prosecutes and gives money back in federal money to the PDs. Even in jurisdictions when their PDs are not generally allowed to profit from property seizures, they can make deals with the federal government to get a share. MANY cash-strapped podunk towns see this as a cash cow. And then that puts the onus on YOU to prove it was earned legitimately. Click to expand.Sounds like you dont know how it typically works.

But some, such as the desertas wolf spider of Portugal and the Kaua’i cave spider of Hawaii, are endangered. Many species are considered to have stable populations. The young hatch inside, then emerge and climb on mom’s back until they’re old enough to live on their own. Once mated, the female spins a round egg sac, attaches it to her abdomen and it carries around with her. When it’s time to mate, male wolf spiders attract females by rhythmically waving their long mouthparts (palps) or drumming them on leaves. One species has even been found living in wheat crops, feeding on pests such as aphids. From deserts to rainforests, grasslands to suburban lawns, wolf spider thrive there’s likely one nearby. There are more than 45,000 known species of spiders, found in habitats all over the world. While some species are found on cold, rocky mountaintops, others live in volcanic lava tubes. Spiders are arachnids, a class of arthropods that also includes scorpions, mites, and ticks. Wolf spiders have figured out how to live just about anywhere. Sometimes they dig burrows or make holes under rocks or logs to live in. The dark, mottled colors on their bodies help them blend in with decaying plant matter while hunting or avoiding predators. Most wolf spiders spend their time on the ground. Two large eyes gleam from the top of the head two more large eyes peer out the front and four smaller eyes form a row just above the spider’s mouth. Once wolf spiders catch their prey, they either mash it up into a ball or inject venom into it, liquefying the internal organs into a wolf-spider smoothie.Īll wolf spiders have eight dark eyes arranged around their heads, or cephalothorax. Most of the thousands of species in this family don’t spin webs instead, they chase and pounce on their insect prey like the wolves that inspire their name. Wolf spiders are the sprinters of the spider world. On the first day of school, your child may spend an hour or two in the classroom.
